1. Alanson Randolph Washam b 1822 of Randolph Co., GA m Emily Jackson Simms 4 Jan 1844 Cuthbert, Randolph Co., GA. Descendants lived in Randolph Co., GA; Angelina Co., TX; Ellis Co., TX; Coryell Co., TX; Lamar Co., TX; Dallas Co., TX; Union Parish, LA. Emily was born 20 May 1823, she died 13 Apr 1905 and is buried in Cannan Cem., Lockhart, Union Parish, LA. She had twelve children.

Alanson’s father could be Josiah Worsham who is in the 1840 Randolph Co, GA census index (page 252). However, reviewing the census, the name is very difficult to read. It appears it may be Mrs. Jacob or Sarah Worsham, family members were males one 5-10 yrs (possibly Jeremiah L. Washam), one 10-15 yrs (unknown), one 15-20 yrs (possibly Alanson Randolf Washam); females one under 5 yrs (possibly Ann Washam), one 10-15 yrs (possibly Nancy C. Washam), & one 40-50 yrs old (mother).

A possible sister, Nancy C. Worsham md. Henry Senn, 9 Jan 1851, in Randolf Co, GA, by John Taylor, minister. They are in the 1860 Union Pa, LA cens (p.509), as Henry Sinn age 35 Farmer SC; N. C. Sinn age 30 Housekeeper GA; Jno. W. Sinn age 8 GA; Geo. W. Sinn age 7 GA; J. L. Sinn age 5 GA male; T.C. Sinn age 2 LA male and C. Washum age 62 NC f seamstress, p509. This would make C. Washum as the wife of Alanson.

In the Biography of Alenson Randolph Washam, by Helen K. Evans, she mentions that Alanson had a brother, named Jeff L. Worsham. This may be the Jeremiah Worsham on page 593 of the Worsham and Washam Family History.

If Jeremiah L. Worsham is a sibling, then Ann Washam is also be a sibling of Alenson. A 1913 letter from J. L. Washam from the Texas Confederate Home, Austin, TX mentions a sister Ann.

1.5. Captain Rutherford P. Washam born 8 Feb 1852 Randolph Co, GA and died 11 Mar 1937 Union Pa, LA. He was the sixth child of Alanson Randolf Washam and Emily Jackson Simms. He married Sarah Frances Speigemer, born 22 Jun 1859 and she died 20 Jul 1936. Rutherford and Sarah had four children. Both are buried in the Spigener Washam Cem., Linnville, Union Pa., LA. MRS. VERA WASHAM TOLAR, Mulhearn Funeral Home - West Monroe, LA
Graveside Services for Vera Washam Tolar will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 11, 2006, in the Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA with Alan Robertson officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Vera was born on Jun 6, 1919 in Monroe, LA and died on Mar 6, 2006 in Norman, OK. Vera was a graduate of Ouachita Parish High School and had resided in Rayville, LA until re-locating to Southern California, where she spent her working years for a school district. After retirement, Vera moved back to West Monroe, where she renewed old friendships and made many new ones. In 1993, for health reasons, she moved to Denver, CO, and resided there until late 2005, when she moved to Norman, OK, nearer her daughter and family. Vera was a member of the Church of Christ. Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and George Tolar; sisters, Louise Tolar, Maude Guidry and Iva Freeman and brothers, Nathaniel "Nick" Tolar and F.A. "Speedy" Tolar. Survivors include her daughter, Frances Washam Troglin and husband, Rev. Charles of Wewoka, OK; brothers, Leonard Tolar of Rayville, LA and George Tolar, Jr. of Covina, CA. She is also survived by six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and a number of nieces, nephews and special friends. A nephew, Cecil "Pete" Tolar and wife, Mable of Pine, CO are recognized as dedicated and loving caregivers to Vera.
