born abt. 1790 in VA, and died aft. 1870 of East Feliciana, LA. (70-1860; 80-1870) N.
Worsham married Maria b Mar 1810 in VA and died aft. 1900 of
East Feliciana, LA. They are in the 1870 4th Ward Jackson, East Feliciana, LA cens, N.
Wisham age 80 b VA & Maria age 65 b VA. In 1870 they lived near Danl. Wisham who is
probably a son. Maria age 54 b LA is a widow in the 1880 2nd Ward, East Feliciana, LA
census living in the home of her son in law, Nathan Johnson. In the 1900 East Feliciana,
LA census is Maria Worsham b Mar 1810 LA is still living with her son in law Nathan
Johnson.
Some of the children of N. & Maria Wisham
are based upon the 1860 East Feliciana, LA slave schedule. Margaret F. McKneely Worsham
was a slave owner and was listed as M. Worsham in both the 1860 slave schedule and the
1860 census. Margaret's husband, James Henry Worsham, died 20 Jul 1850 East Feliciana, LA
(see page 318 of Worsham and Washam Family History). The 1860 slave schedule lists the
following slaves age 70 male black (N. Wisham); age 53 female black (Maria, wife of N. Wisham);
age 52 female black; age 26 male black; age 26 male black; age 25 male black; age 24
female mulatto; age 22 Female black; age 20 female black; age 16 female black; age 12 male
black; age 12 male black; age 11 male black; age 6 male black; age 4 female black; age 3
female black; age 2 female black; age 2 male mulatto.
In 1900 Maria Worsham stated she was the mother of 10 children & 3 were
living.

bef 1850 of East Feliciana, LA. She was born abt. 1835 MS. They are in the 1870 4
Ward, Jackson, East Feliciana, LA census as Danl Wisham age 35 b LA farming & Elvira
age 35 b MS living near N. & Maria Wisham who are assumed to be his parents.
In the 1880 East Feliciana Pa, LA census he is Dan Washam age 43 b LA farmer & she
is Elvira age 45 b MS. Daniel died before 1900. In 1900, Elvira was a widow living
with her son, Robert Charles Worsham in Saint Mary Pa., LA.

She is in the 1930 New Orleans, Orleans Pa, LA census as Alice M. Worsham age 55 b LA,
widow, and working as a launderer.

age 34 a white farmer & John's mother Marg F. Wisham. Marg is the former slave owner,
Margaret F. McKneely Worsham (see page 318 of Worsham and Washam Family History). In 1860,
Margaret Wisham could be the 16 year old black female slave in the home of Margaret F.
McKneely Worsham.

b abt 1849 of East Feliciana, LA. Preston may be the age 12 male in the 1860 slave
schedule of
Margaret F. McKneely Worsham. Preston apparently married abt 1869 to
Francis born abt 1848 MS. Preston died Mar 1870 East Feliciana, LA
of heart disease.

"Joe" b. Jan 1850 of East Feliciana, LA. (23-1870; 35-1880; 1/50-1900;
60-1910; 75-1920) Joe lived next to next to William Wisham age 35 a white farmer. Joe is
likely a former slave of William's mother, Margaret F. McKneely Worsham (see page 318 of
Worsham and Washam Family History). He may be the black male child age 12 in the 1860 East
Feliciana, LA slave schedule living with owner, M. Worsham (Margaret F. McKneely Worsham).
Joseph's first child was named Maria suggesting he named her after his mother.

abt. 1868 of East Feliciana, LA. She was b. abt. 1847 of East Feliciana, LA. In the 1870
East Feliciana, LA census Jos. Wisham is age 23 (p270). Joseph Worsham age 35 b LA is
single and a farm hand in the 1880 4th Ward East Feliciana, LA census living with William
Nelson age 35 b LA.
Joe md. 2nd) Betsy Selden
abt. 1883 in East Feliciana, LA, daughter of Mahaley Selden b Sep 1830. Betsy, age 18 b
MS, is in
the 1880 Mt. Pleasant, Wilkinson Co, MS cens living with her mother, Mahalia Selden age 50 b MS a widow.
Betsy is noted in the census as temporarily disabled with a nervous? headache.
In 1900 Joseph was a farm labor with his family
in Ward 3, outside of Jackson Town, East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. In 1910 he was a
widow living in Ward 4, East Feliciana, LA. In 1920 he is listed as Joe Worshum age 75 in
the West Feliciana, LA cens and his mother in law, Mahela Selden, is living with them (p186B).

ggrandfather was Joseph (Joe) Wisham of Louisiana md Bessie Selden. According to my
grandmother, Eliza Wisham Bailey's death certificate, her father Joe Wisham was born in
Elizabeth, MO, abt 1850. I found the family in East Feliciana, LA in 1900 and 1910. My
father never knew any of his mother's family. My grandfather William (Bill) Bailey md
Eliza Wisham abt. 1909. I found them in 1910 Leflore Co. MS. ED 68. I found them next in
1930 still in Leflore Co. My father Riley Bailey is the youngest child at age 1 5/12 (census index
surname is Bartay). I
haven't been able to find them in 1920."
